Early Holocene Adaptations of the Santa Barbara Channel,a provide a unique opportunity to examine the structure of an early Holocene coastal adaptation, as well as variation in the settlement and subsistence patterns of early Millingstone groups. In this chapter, I take a more detailed look at the variability among Santa Barbara Channel sites dating earlier than about 7,500 years ago.

War, the Army and Victorian Literatureand ground stone artifacts. During initial examination of the site, similarities in the composition of the shellfish assemblage to that of SBA-1807 led me to suspect that SBA-2061 was also of early Holocene age, an inference later confirmed by radiocarbon dating.
