Amy Neustein,Judith A. Markowitze grounding line. The transition flow is found numerically by solving a non-linear elliptic differential equation with fixed boundary conditions. The transition zone is located around the grounding line and its width is of the order of the ice thickness. In the case of basal sliding the transition zone can be widened considerably.
