Prockop, Shore and Brodie (1959) have claimed, however, that the anticonvulsant effect of diphenylhydantoin is unrelated to brain monoamines. Similarly, the role of brain monoamines in electroshock seizure threshold, is equally controversial (for literature see Mantegazzini, 1966; Kilian and Frey, 1973).
