Interference from ferrous iron is prevented by the incorporation of a sulfite in the buffer, and the aluminum complex is enhanced in sensitivity and stability by the addition of polycyclic ketoamine.

These results are compared with the Kronig theory for extended fine structure, and the possibility that thermal vibrations are responsible in part for the temperature dependence is proposed.
