https://doi.org/10.1007/BFb0021732 paper also shows how the results of direct simulation can be used to improve current closure models of these flows. Particle dispersion in a decaying grid-turbulence is studied using DNS, and the results are compared with the measurements of Snyder and Lumley (1971).
