Studies in Central and Eastern Europeated in colloidal particles. They can be characterized by different degrees of hydration and oxydation states. In the natural environment all these different forms of trace metals can be in equilibrium or at least in a steady state (Florence and Batley, 1980; Stumm and Morgan, 1981).
