Opponent-colour responses generated by spatially tuned mechanisms in human visionfied in a predictable way when recorded for a congenital red-green dichromat. Measurements for a patient with an acquired colour vision deficiency demonstrate that her opponent responses are abnormal, although she can perform normal colour matches with a 1° 20′ bipartite field.

The Fechner fraction of the M cone system showed significantly higher values than that of the L cone system. As a result, we are able to confirm the existence of both the L and M cones in PFA.
