On a Possible Explanation of the Unusually High Rates of Colour Vision Defects in Some West of ScotlThe present writer examined colour vision defects in a variety of schools in the West of Scotland and these are summarised in Cobb (1980). The main feature which arises from this is that it appears that some Roman Catholic primary schools had a very high rate of colour vision defect and others had not.

König Models of Color VisionA König model of color vision is one in which the dichromatic copunctal points are assumed to be the fundamental colors. The Walraven model is presented as an example and is compared to Fry’s zone model which involves a different interpretation of dichromatism.

Cortical Color DefectsA simplified review is given of types of color processing defects which may be caused by cortical disorders. Testing for cortical color defects is then discussed with particular emphasis on demonstrating whether a cortical achromatopsia is ‘color-selective’ in the sense that color discrimination is more affected than other visual functions.
