Past medical history is noncontributory. Previous treatment include topical clindamycin and oral tetracycline with temporary improvement.

Tinea CapitisA 10-year old African American boy presents with an oval patch of hair loss on his occipital scalp. He has had the patch for about a month. He also has dandruff. The patient’s mother is concerned that this hairloss is permanent as she recalls her mother had alopecia. Review of systems is otherwise negative.

Carmela R. Abraham,Franchot Slothich he believed was an ingrown hair. He then developed additional bumps over the top of his head. There was associated “cheesy” drainage and alopecia. He attempted to apply his topical acne medications to the area with mild improvement. He has not had any fevers or chills.
