Conclusion and Outlook, of the Dicke and generalized Jaynes-Cummings model. These concepts gave a very intuitive insight, from which all demonstrated effects could be derived and understood. Starting from Maxwell’s equations, one can derive a formalism treating such field modes inside a resonator as harmonic oscillators. These field modes can then be quantized and treated as quantum harmonic oscillators.

Starting from the simplest case of a single two level system in the cavity, I introduce a formalism to treat ensembles of spins coupling to the cavity field mode.
