Coronary Artery Restenosis Following Balloon Angioplasty,chemic myocardium. In excess of 250,000 procedures are done each year in the USA alone. While the technique has a high primary success rate, 30% to 50% of patients have evidence of recurrent myocardial ischemia within six months of angioplasty.. This is due to the development of a restenotic lesion.
