Polymeric Nanocarriers for Cancer TherapyScanning tunneling spectroscopy is a versatile tool to measure wave functions within electronic systems. In addition, the spin distribution can be measured by using adequate spin filters for the scanning tip. The principle of the technique is explained and illustrated by several examples using semiconducting and ferromagnetic samples.

Takahashiased on the dimensionally constrained D’yakonov Perel’ mechanism, describes increasing electron-spin relaxation times for two-dimensional conducting layers with decreasing channel width. The slow-down of the spin relaxation can be understood as a precursor of the one-dimensional limit.
