Conserving Table Mountainloristic diversity, and because it was indigenous, for others it was featureless, dangerously inflammable, ‘sun-scorched, snake-ridden bush’.. The one point of agreement for these diverse approaches to the mountain environment was a vehement antipathy to fire.
