Clinical Impact of Reduced Blood Cell Deformability During Cardiopulmonary Bypasss of this rheological disturbance on postoperative morbidity has been suspected recently. In this study, red cell filtrability was studied in order to note if it could predict postoperative bleeding following heart operations. Such a test would help in selecting or anticipating high-risk bleeders on the basis of red cell rheological function.

From Solipsism to Being with the Other, ion of intravasal coagulation might be the pathophysiological base for complex postoperative complications . Thus, the aim of this study was to investigate whether a reduction in the preoperative thromboresistant potential quantified by various hemostatic parameters is linked to intra- or postoperative complications.

From Solipsism to Being with the Other, kely to work through a number of mechanisms; so each speaker has focussed on one aspect of the problem and all are, in general, correct. Now, for the bad news, we still do not know the fundamental haemostatic mechanism which causes bleeding after bypass surgery and there remain many questions to be answered.

Blood Use in Cardiac Surgery — A Transfusionist’s Viewpointd bank was expected to crossmatch each of the units of blood with all other units, as well as with the recipient, for interdonor compatibility. It was not unusual to collect more than 10 units of blood routinely for each case. The strain of resources and the expense were inordinate.
