Essentials of Optical Radiation Metrology,ion of Uncertainty of Measurements (GUM) is outlined and conditions for its applicability are indicated. The basics of the Monte Carlo simulation of measurement uncertainties (the method of propagation of distributions) is briefly considered and some suitable examples are provided.
