Intractable Ulcerative Colitisnts undergo continent ileostomies, partly because of problems related to these procedures. While the vast majority of patients undergoing proctocolectomy with ileostomy and those having ileoanal pull-through operations do well, some of the problems related to these operations are also presented here.

Jejunoileitisult to identify and biopsy of the stricture should be sent routinely for histologic examination. All patients with jejunoileitis requiring surgery are given prophylactic medication following surgery in order to suppress the recurrence potential of Crohn’s disease.
