Realisierungsbeispiel des Systems, omponents at the micro and nanolevel of the material: hydroxyapatite crystals, collagen molecules, and water. The mechanical properties (i.e. elasticity) of these elementary components are (up to experimental scattering) the same for all bones; they are’ universal’, i.e., independent of tissue-type,

Transport in Porous Media: Upscaling by Multiscale Asymptotic Expansionsto be the most efficient method to obtaining macroscopic equivalent behaviours. Different transport phenomena are addressed: fluid flow through a saturated porous medium (Darcy’s law), diphasic flow (coupled Darcy’s laws), solute transport (diffusion, advection, dispersion) and fluid flow through deformable porous media (consolidation).

Modeling of Plastic Deformation of Saturated Porous Materials: Effective Stress Concepteneral format of poro-plasticity is concluded by splitting the local elastic-plastic problem, stated for a representative volume element, into two ones corresponding to the elastic- and residual state of the solid, respectively. Making use of an appropriately defined comparison analysis, the so-called effective stress concept is verified.

Experimental Microporomechanicsques and microporomechanics theory provides a unique opportunity to understand and assess nanoproperties and microstructure, as a new basis for the engineering prediction of macroscopic poromechanical properties of natural composites. This is illustrated for cement-based materials and shales.
