The Cover-Up,Shame affects us at our core; we bury it, interring it. Elided or covered over by other terms–“interred in rhetoric”–shame fades from view. Thus, shame is covered over, or covered up. Scenes of shame and its concealment emerge theologically in the Edenic drama recounted in the Bible.
