Getting Startedwas no shrinking flower. She had transitioned twice, once when a miscarriage and other health problems forced her to rethink work, and a second time when she adopted a child as a single mom. I valued her advice and loved how much she believed in the process that I was going through.

Barriers to Transitionwhat I should or could do. I felt admonished, judged, marginalized, or worse—pushed to pretend as if nothing was happening. This maelstrom deposited me on the doorstep of barriers. I wanted to understand them more and their role in my transition.
