Part-time Work,yers assumed that part-timers did not take their jobs as seriously as full-timers and were therefore less reliable. In return they deserved less pay, fewer benefits and very little job security. In short, part-time workers were second class workers.

Equal Pay,pport and therefore needed a decent wage, and that female workers were earning ‘pin money’ for family luxuries. Although it is now against the law to pay different rates to men and women for the same job, the traditional assumption about men needing more money than women is at least one of the reasons why women still earn only 66% of what men do.

Equal Opportunities,e restricted to certain jobs. They could not get a mortgage without a male partner and they needed their husband to co-sign hire purchase agreements. Even today there are different state pension ages for women and men.
