Carbon Cycles in Forests, ound to be influenced by soil physical properties, soil biota, length of the frost season, and hydrothermal conditions. According to long-term eddy-correlation data, the annual NEE in medium-productivity larch forest was 212 ± 34 g C m. year., that in high-productivity larch forest was 243 ± 23 g C

Water-Carbon Cycle in Dendrochronology, hniques to the investigation of the water and carbon cycles that are characteristic of these forest ecosystems. I also discuss limitations presented by the use of dendrochronological techniques in studying forest ecosystem carbon cycling and future goals in overcoming these limitations.

Permafrost-Forest Dynamics, the active layer and upper part of the permafrost during recent decades. An increase in the mean active-layer depth of only a few tens of centimetres would release large amounts of water and carbon. Predicting permafrost landscape changes is not straightforward; it is hindered by uncertainty, by the

We then introduce our own studies, which compared in situ field observations with satellite observations, and examine the usability and prospects of remote-sensing techniques, including uncertainties and other related issues, for obse
